what worked well: my overall experince with camunda has been highly positive. the platform delivers a truly enterprise-grade bpm engine that faithfully implements core bpmn and dmn standards. the native java api and spring boot starters significantly accelerate development cycles, allowing teams to build process-driven applications without unneccessary overhead. performance was consistently solid. the engine handles high transaction volumes with minimal latency, making it well-suited for production environments with demanding throughput requirements. camunda cockpit is an excellent tool for real-time process monitoring, providing clear visibility into running instances, incidents and performance metrics. areas for improvement: the initial setup requires careful database and engine configuration, which can be error-prone for teams new to camunda. the learning curve at first could be eased with more guided setup documentation. coverage of advanced bpmn constructs in the official documentation is limited, particularly around event subscriptions and less common patterns where real-world examples would be invaluable. version upgrades may sometimes introduce breaking chnages that can be challenging to navigate, especially in complex deployments.
