Based on my professional experience this is overall the most optimal commissions/sales performance tool I've ever seen. It offers great flexibility but at the same time full control over the process. Add to that how well their customer service team responds to all our queries and how they keep the product up to date based on feedback they constantly collect.

Like

Mainly the ease of use/flexibility. You have full option to customize it to your needs, accommodate the most exotic exceptions and very quickly run mock-ups/simulations while keeping full control of the data including permissions and automation with our other systems in my organization. On top of that you have very detailed reporting capabilities and if needed API access to add/extract data.

Like

The transparency that it provides is valuable, the Salesforce integration creates a seamless experience, and it makes it easy to know my commission earnings without a spreadsheet.

The ease of use is great for the admin team and the users. Once you get everything built, it is smooth sailing. If small updates/changes need to be made within the commission plans, it is fairly straight forward. You do need to make sure you have all of your data sources set up correctly - as I come from a complicated and multi data sourced company, we have learned!

Dislike

There are really no flaws I can think of other than 'with great power comes great responsibility'. Without proper planning you can easily allow for too many exceptions which are later hard to track. It's not so much a product issue as something the company needs to think about.

While the Salesforce integration is beneficial, it means the system relies heavily on that data quality, which can get messy within larger organizations. The reporting and dashboards aren't robust and offer only basic information. The overall UX could be clearer.

Dislike

Building commission plans are clunky. It is not a walk in the park but it is not like doing brain surgery. My dev team needs to spend more time setting up APIs with CaptivateIQ, outside of the standard practices - so right now it is a challenge as we expand and have different data sources. My company does not have a straight forward payment based upon what is closed won, so we have had difficulty fitting our information into a one size fits all- once we figured it out we have been able to make tweaks to the process. Mostly, the challenge has been getting used to something new.

    CIQ has been a game changer for our organization for the last 7 years+. It saves us approximately 80 hours per month by eliminating manual spreadsheets and automating all compensation processes. The platform is highly-customizable, easy to build out, and doesn't require a 3rd party to install or manage. Making updates/changes is simple, which allows us to adpat quickly as our needs evolve.     Huge upgrade in administration of sales commissions calculations from spreadsheets/manual calcs

    Without a doubt, CaptivateIQ is a life saver coming from commissions calculations in spreadsheets. It creates fidelity in the data and calculations and ultimately provides excellent transparency for sales reps to understand their commissions. There is a pretty steep learning curve - the product is complex. The initial set up was very complex, cycling from month to month is still a significant lift (but obviously night and day better than spreadsheets) and then again implementing new plans requires an uplift.
