It's expensive, not very straightforward to learn, and the knowledgebase is not kept up to date or easy to locate tutorials and guides for common issues. We were also told over 5 years into using that we were sold demo equipment by a Fortinet partner and subsequently told we had to buy new hardware because ours was blacklisted by Fortinet. They have a very questionable sales process which did not sit well with us, and it was hard to even find an alternate vendor who was open to a working business relationship versus looking to make a quick commission and move on. My overall experience with Sophos Firewall in a hospital work environment has been extremely positive. In a setting where the security of sensitive patient data and the operational continuity of IT infrastructure are critical Sophoa has proven to be a reliable, effective , and easy-to-manage solution. The user interface is intuitive , which has made daily management easier even in complex evironment like healthcare. Features such as granular traffic control , advanced threat protection, and real-time monitoring have been essential in securing the network and connected device, including those used for diagnostics clinical systems. The integration with Sophos Central has been especially valuable , allowing us to centrally manage security across both firewalls and endpoints, improving our responsiveness to alerts and anomalies. The tecnical support has also been responsive and competent whenever we needed assistance. In summary Sophos Firewall has played a significant role in strengthening the cybersecurity posture of the hospital environment where i work , without compromising service accessibility , and has actively supported our compliance and data protection needs.Read all insights and reviews for Sophos Firewall

4. PA-Series

My company selected PaloAlto to replace our other on-premise firewalls, based on their market rating in security and their ability to centralize the management of the firewalls from one single pane of glass. During our transition the PA sales team pushed for us to go to Strata Cloud Manager (SCM) vs Panorama, due to their roadmap for SCM. However, our deployment suffered many delays and roadblocks due to the SCM platform not being ready for primetime. Training for SCM was not available directly from PA or any of their training partners, which was the first issue. We found a lot of opportunities in the SCM platform as well when it came to pushing out changes to to managed firewalls, where we ran into an issue where if two different administrators push config changes to the same firewall, it creates a conflict in SCM where it loses the ability to manage the firewall, it seems like they should have something in place to prevent that from happening. The PA sales team did offer up a 2-day on-premise training session for SCM, but due to our project schedule it happened after implementation, thus the team had to really rely on PA Professional services to get the job done. 5. Cisco Meraki MX appliances

Cisco Meraki network devices are quick to configure and easy to manage. The dashboard itself is nice and I find it beneficial to have insight into all of my networks with aggregated and individual statistics. The dashboard is very user friendly, clean, and easy to navigate. Setting up a network or making changes is a breeze. The robust alerting options ensure I'm always up to date with what's going on within my network without having to login to the dashboard too often. I think Meraki is an excellent option for smaller to small-medium sized organizations or sites. However, the downside of such a simple to use platform is that it's lacking in more advanced features.
