It is difficult to find a vendor that is small enough to be responsive to customers yet large enough to deliver a full-featured stable product. We have used ControlUp since it was a smaller VDI-focused niche tool and though the company has grown significantly they have managed to retain that "small-vendor" responsiveness that makes all the difference when working with a partner to keep systems up and running.

Controlup has been essential for looking after our estate of endpoints, it allows for quick remediation of a issues and visibility of any upcoming issue patterns. The automations allow us to manage these without checking the reports each day, and automatic alerts from these keep our job simple

Like

ControlUp has both cloud and on-prem offerings and tools, and you can generally license only the functionality you need, which is refreshing since a lot of monitoring solutions are all-or-nothing. This also keeps agents rather light and unobtrusive. The cloud-based consoles are responsive and flexible, and the on-prem components are simple to deploy if needed. There are many integrations with third parties, and they are generally well documented. Importantly, ControlUp support is willing (and competent) if you need assistance. It is not uncommon to talk to a developer or high-level technical resource if you have a special need or unusual problem

Like

The automations and reporting are very customisable, you can remediate almost any issue without manual intervention. The user will never know they had an issue.

Their product has an excellent UI for troubleshooting and managing devices, including the new live remote management tool that adds additional depth to the metrics gathered. Ability to track the user experience and find specific points where the user may have had an issue is critical and is helpful when trying to track problematic issues with various applications and their versions. The rate at which ControlUp comes out with new features and is willing to take feedback and suggestions on improvements helps foster a feeling of closer engagement with their customers.

Dislike

DEX and VDI require different agents if you use both. The patch management pieces are not quite as robust as they should be. Product functionality and system requirements can be difficult to assess from the marketing docs, which also makes licensing more complicated than it should be.

The remote control is clunky and difficult to use - especially the zoom the price has increased in the last couple of years agent isnt always available on endpoint

There is generally not a lot to dislike, but as in my previous comment, I would ask them to look at improvements in their documentation and videos on new/changed features when released.

    Continuous Feature Evolution Enhances ControlUp’s Broader Application for Client Services

    Over the time we have had ControlUp they have continually evolved their product. We have used this for many years, starting with a targeted usage purpose and evolving to cover a much larger portion of our client services. I find ControlUp's strengths have been in their development and the pace at which they have been delivering new and critical features to keep up with the speed at which technology is changing today. They have a great amount of documentation to reference and training videos to introduce and explain how their product works. I would look for them to continue this and improve on that documentation, as sometimes the documentation on new features does not always go very in-depth.

    Extensive device and user experience monitoring and reporting capabilities with strong focus on continued innovation

    ControlUp was reviewed and selected to fill a gap that we had with monitoring, specifically focused on the experience of our users across a large VDI landscape. Over the time we've had them deployed, we have found great value in other portions of the product as well. Some key areas that have helped to prove the value of the product include: - identifying causes of and fixing long logon times for various projects - leveraging scout bees to perform synthetic monitoring of workflows, including network latency across various sites globally - replacing older and unreliable tech used by help desk teams for shadowing devices

    Overall, the ControlUp Edge DX product is a very powerful tool to have in your tool belt.

    The experience I've had overall with not just the product, but the support has been nothing short of excellent. The product works well, and when we run into challenges, our CSM's are both professional and quick to expedite our incident requests.

    Clear Dashboards and Workflow Strengthen ControlUp One, Stability Remains a Challenge

    ControlUp One has a great potential as a one-stop platform for monitoring & telemetry across our estate which gives me clear end to end visibility I need. The workflow opens up endless automation capabilities. The reason its not a 5 star yet is the rapid pace of tech changes, integration and new feature often requires frequent testing to keep everything aligned. With bit more stability and more turnkey integration, it would be truly and exceptional product. I know this is the trajectory ControlUp One is.
