We like the flexibility of AdaptiveWork without being overly complex or difficult to use. Easily the best feature is the Slide Publisher application that generates PowerPoint slides and automatically drops data from AdaptiveWork fields into the slides. It's a real time saver! We also had a great experience with our Planview implementation leaders. The Project Manager kept us on schedule and the Technical Developer had extensive understanding of all uses of AdaptiveWork, reporting applications, and integration with other software platforms. It was a very personalized implementation and the product is working well globally for our R&D teams.
We can customize it to fit our needs.
What I like most about the platform is how easy it is to use. The design of it is user friendly. The platform allows us to build templates to start project tracking faster, build reports how we want them to look which allows us to have agility in what gets reported, build dashboards that bring visibility and transparency to our work. Our business analysts are able to use the tool right along side our project and program managers. The platform allows us to see into our resource load to know if our workforce is being overwhelmed with project work along side their day to day duties. Having the ability to customize fields, layouts and views ourselves so that we are not relying on the vendor to do those things has given us the ability to make changes much faster.
After implementation we no longer have a specific person assigned for addressing technical concerns. Instead we have a generic inbox to contact, but have not received responses. Some users find the AdaptiveWork interface clunky, but this is because you can't please everyone. While it's a benefit that AdaptiveWork is very highly configurable, sometimes it's overwhelming how many decisions need to be made and how many places edits need to be made during the configuration/implementation process.
1. Learning curve is high. Team's don't like workplan management and it's features. They think PAW is possessed and makes updates we didn't ask for, etc. 2. The interface, especially in reporting and dashboards is very outdated. It isn't very visual. We use ai to create dashboards and displays that are professional enough for our stakeholders. The PAW dashboard customization/graphics are very poor. 3. Using PAW for resourcing and availability has never worked for us. There isn't a visual, quick way to see who is available. There is a ton in there, but none of it works for us. It almost feels way over engineered.
Filtering for roadmaps has sometimes been a challenge to get the right things to show up correctly.
