My overall experience with Jira has been very positive. I work in an aerospace scale up, where engineering, operations, finance and quality teams need to work closely together. Jira helps us create a shared space where everyone can see tasks and priorities, and their progress. Before structuring our workflows with Jira, collaborations with teams were not always aligned. Information was spread across emails and meetings, and it was not always clear who was responsible for what. With Jira, we improved transparency, ownership and coordination across all the departments. It became easier to manage dependencies and avoid misunderstandings.

As a task tracker it's okay if the project team is actively improving the tool. As a dashboard on sprint productivity - not very transparent, since it misses a lot of cross team communication and agreements. adhocs are hard to track

Is anyone using a central AI to report on project status in realtime highlighting dependencies and bottlenecks. Or are you just connecting project management systems (MS Project, Jira, Primavera) to dashboards with Power BI or Tableau?

Leading indicators are super useful because they give you a heads-up about potential problems instead of just telling you what’s already gone wrong. We are using an AI powered tool ( can't be named here, I guess) that gets you insights that help you notice issues before they escalate. Plus, it really encourages everyone to be transparent about project status so the whole team knows what’s going on from the get-go. This openness motivates everyone to take responsibility and helps build strong teams that tackle problems early on and stay focused on their goals together. Traditional reporting often comes too late to make necessary changes. By being proactive and embracing transparency with some AI support, teams can adapt and improve on their own. The key is to catch issues early and empower teams to make adjustments as needed. AI plays a role in all team decisions, like a performance coach, and also helps out at the management level. It identifies risks and suggests improvements for senior executives. I hope that helps? 🙂

Like

1. Jira creates a shared workspace where different teams can collaborate in real time. 2. Clear task ownership improves accountability across departments. 3. workflows help align different functions under the same process. 4. Dashboards make cross-team progress visible and easier to discuss during meetings.

Like

Ability to create Sprints as a way of grouping tasks like Bugs, Q3, On hold - in order to structurize the working flow. Ability to see any changes made to the task with the contact info of the person who made the changes. The high level customization available. Also, the search feature could use some improving: when trying to link issues that I'm 100% sure exist under a certain number, it cannot be found, and I have to create a task, and then link the issue some other way.

Like

For a JIRA like tool, I have two cents - it's amazing at organizing my own stuff, Every Sprint gets planned on JIRA in advance so that my devs and QAs can look the the EPICs and cards which could come up in the next sprint. JIRA also makes the visualisation a lot more clearer and understandable,

Dislike

1. the tool can feel complex for teams that are not used to structured project management tools. 2. without clear governance, different teams may configure workflows differently, creating inconsistencies. 3. Some collaboration features require discipline from users to keep information updated.

Dislike

Sometimes Jira flow breaks and I'm not able to close the task (if I open the workflow, it shows that the task is somehow stuck in a loop and nobody knows how it got there), and it becomes annoying to get the task to the beginning and do all the statuses all over again just to close it, taking many minutes. The main reason for disliking it is just the random inability to change the status of any task that can happen anytime to anyone, despite all the right actions and accesses

Dislike

As mentioned above, their filters could be designed a bit better.Problem - every time I add a team filter and multi select any option, it refreshes the page. Second, if I refresh the page, by default JIRA would collapse my view, which is painstaking.
