What is Rippling?

Rippling Global Payroll is a full-service, native global payroll engine that processes pay runs and automatically calculates, files, and pays taxes. Admins can process payroll in 5 days, and view taxes, gross pay, and currency conversions during pay runs. They can also add bonuses, commission, and reimbursements, adjust pay runs after they’ve been submitted, and prorate payroll or run off-cycle pay runs for both domestic and international employees and contractors. Rippling Global Payroll integrates with Rippling Time & Attendance, Rippling Spend Management, Rippling Benefits Administration, and other products so admins never have to worry about manually calculating payroll or updating deductions and expenses.

Overall this is a great product. We're a smaller company and Rippling has a lot of features that would be amazing for large organizations - we're just not big enough to need them or find value in them, but it's still great for a company of our size (~50 employees/contractors). We moved from our previous provider becuase they were completely changing their service structure and increasing our cost considerably. As the main admin using our HRIS systems, Rippling is by far a superior product and was less expensive than staying with the previous provider.

Overall the implementation has been difficult, there are lots of settings and permissions and hidden "rules" associated with things that don't come out until you're trying to use the platform. It is not at all user friendly.

Like

Payroll: it shows exactly what has changed for each individual from cycle to cycle, so I can easily flag any issues Reviews: Very easy to set up and to customize, and able to set different due dates for different aspects of the review process (and set different forward facing and internal due dates) Spend/Finance: Can't say enough about how nice it is to manage our credit cards, expenses, and reimbursements all from our HR platform. It's one of their newer offerings so there are improvements that could be made, but it's still a huge step up for us from how we were managing these, from both the admin side and employee user experience.

Like

The best aspect is our ability to pay EORs, US W2 employees, and domestic and international contractors in one place and have a unified source of data. The implementation with the international contractors was by far the best and went the smoothest of anything.

Like

Integration - There are multiple apps that we use daily and having all the links to all of them would prove difficult. This ensures that I am able to use all of those at the same time. Payments Management - I am able to see when exactly my payment will be processed within the app Surveys - I enjoy the reporting I am able to do ensuring that my organisation is able to receive feedback.

Dislike

The main issue we've encountered is in the Benefits module, and that we're not able to fully configure our medical insurance company contributions in the way that we want to. We've opted for a bandaid fix for now, which means that some employees' information is incorrect, and are really hoping that they make product changes before our next Open Enrollment cycle at the end of the year. Due to the contributions issue, I have to manually update payroll deductions. This hasn't been quite as smooth as it should be, and there have been some challenges getting the Benefits deductions area to correctly sync with Payroll. We've opted not to connect our company email with Rippling, and because we're not using that feature, it's not allowing us to enter work email addresses at all in individual's profiles. It's not a huge issue, but is inconvenient. Our implementation manager said that there should be a way to fix this, but our account manager wasn't able to provide much guidance so I haven't looked into it further.

Dislike

I dislike the lack of accountable human presence during onboarding and in customer service. I have not had one positive experience with the customer support team, and have been on hold for a literal 6 hour wait to try to fix an imperative issue. Furthermore, the only solutions that are ever given are references to articles or instructions from articles. There is no one on CS that does anything above or beyond telling you what to do from the text book answers or referring them to you.

Dislike

Bugs at times - There seems to be bugs at times that affect the usability of the product Timing - From what I am seeing, because we have different timezones within my organisation, the product at times finds it difficult to pick up Ease of Use - We already have an internal WFM tool, so it would be wasier not to have to use it again.

    Integration and Security Features Noted Alongside Payment Tracking and Occasional Bugs

    The main reason that I find them exceptional is the integrative aspect that is there in the app. I am able to easily move from one app to another which are all under the same umbrella. The safety aspect of it is also very important to me. Dealing with sensitive information requires you to constantly be using a service that ensures data protection. 2-factor authentication is a tool that helps ensure that it is all covered.

    "Seamless HR & IT Management in one Place"

    Overall, our experience with Rippling has been very good. The platform is Intuitive and brings multiple HR and IT functions together in one place, which has made processes like onboarding, payroll and managing my employee data much simpler. Rippling has definitely reduced our team manual work and the best part is the support team which are often very quick to respond.

    I have really enjoyed using Rippling. I like that I can access the HR system via mobile app and from my work or personal computer. It's refreshing coming from the federal government's HR system that was often confusing and hard to navigate, to Rippling's software that is a one-stop-shop for all my HR needs.
