Payroll: it shows exactly what has changed for each individual from cycle to cycle, so I can easily flag any issues Reviews: Very easy to set up and to customize, and able to set different due dates for different aspects of the review process (and set different forward facing and internal due dates) Spend/Finance: Can't say enough about how nice it is to manage our credit cards, expenses, and reimbursements all from our HR platform. It's one of their newer offerings so there are improvements that could be made, but it's still a huge step up for us from how we were managing these, from both the admin side and employee user experience.
The best aspect is our ability to pay EORs, US W2 employees, and domestic and international contractors in one place and have a unified source of data. The implementation with the international contractors was by far the best and went the smoothest of anything.
Rippling has helped make our HR, payroll, and compliance work much more efficient. Payroll is fast and accurate. Benefits and COBRA administration requires very little manual effort (we also have an EDI feed which allows us to be more hands-off). Our onboarding and offboarding experience is far smoother and more efficient than it was with our previous system. Outside of support from our Rippling team, I was the only one from my company to implement the HRIS and even with it being a 1 person lift, it was pretty seamless and I was very happy with the implementation. The HRIS is easy to navigate, and the built-in workflows and approvals make it simple to manage tasks. Its integrations with tools like Microsoft, our 401k provider, and background screening vendors (and many more) have also been a major advantage. The reporting features are pretty strong and we've been pleasantly surprised with the steady rollout of new capabilities such as compensation planning tools, 1-on-1 modules, headcount planning, etc. which shows that Rippling continues to invest in meeting customer needs. Overall, it has allowed us to centralize many of our processes and serve as a one-stop shop.
The main issue we've encountered is in the Benefits module, and that we're not able to fully configure our medical insurance company contributions in the way that we want to. We've opted for a bandaid fix for now, which means that some employees' information is incorrect, and are really hoping that they make product changes before our next Open Enrollment cycle at the end of the year. Due to the contributions issue, I have to manually update payroll deductions. This hasn't been quite as smooth as it should be, and there have been some challenges getting the Benefits deductions area to correctly sync with Payroll. We've opted not to connect our company email with Rippling, and because we're not using that feature, it's not allowing us to enter work email addresses at all in individual's profiles. It's not a huge issue, but is inconvenient. Our implementation manager said that there should be a way to fix this, but our account manager wasn't able to provide much guidance so I haven't looked into it further.
I dislike the lack of accountable human presence during onboarding and in customer service. I have not had one positive experience with the customer support team, and have been on hold for a literal 6 hour wait to try to fix an imperative issue. Furthermore, the only solutions that are ever given are references to articles or instructions from articles. There is no one on CS that does anything above or beyond telling you what to do from the text book answers or referring them to you.
Some features still have room to grow, particularly when it comes to pricing for add-on modules and the depth of available integrations. A few areas, like more advanced approval and workflow options, credential tracking, and the number of advanced report credits, the system is limited and often requires workarounds. Reporting would benefit from additional built-in templates, including those needed for filings like the Vets 4212, as well as more performance-based reporting/analytics and tools, such as configurable rating scales. It would also be helpful if the system allowed us to pause PTO accruals automatically during long unpaid leave (or other conditions) and if certain modules offered more flexibility to match company-specific procedures. The platform is strong overall and I would renew with them, but improvements in these areas would make it even more effective.
