I have been a big user of Canva in the past, using it to help design everything from digital banners, images, invitations, etc to video thumbnails and more. It truly takes the difficulty out of designing professional looking resources and assets, providing you with meaningful templates to work off of. The process of saving your work is rather simple, and you have plenty of options with which to download your resource when you are complete. Being a designer and UI specialist, I have been using Figma for ages now, and this software really didn't disappoint me at all. Starting with how user-friendly it is - easy to navigate, finding your tools and incorporating plug-ins. One good YouTube video or online course and you're already a pro at using the tool. Secondly, the best part is its usability. You don't necessarily need to download the app, you can easily use it online and the ease of using it on any device- be it phone, tablet or laptop. Plus the ability to access your data anywhere in the world with merely your ID and password. It has good collaborative features, and don't get me started on the extensive plugins it has to offer-plus you can even add more. Prototyping, creating button animations or making a fun interactive interface, it can do it all. You can start with a lo-fi wireframe to your hi-fi wireframes to a fully fledged working interface, it really does it all. However, despite being a great tool, it does have some limitations as well. One major thing is that a free account allows only one free project, which can contain only 3 files, plus only two people can collaborate with limited features. This doesn't allow the user to take full advantage of the software and get to know it better- and hence is forced to buy as one doesn't get complete essence of the tool. Besides this, it doesn't work well with large or heavy files- it goes crazy and starts lagging a lot so if you're working on a heavy data project be ready to feel annoyed a bit. We love using LucidLink, not only for how easy it is to use and the feeling like you're working off your local onsite storage (and not cloud), but the flexibility it provides to allow for multiple global office locations to collaborate easily with each other is one of the biggest and best features of it. The ease of signing up users, its integration with SSO for security, and its features that allow sharing links make it an ideal platform to work from at the enterprise level, which ticks the box for the IT support team. We get audited almost annually by very large Fortune 500 clients, who demand the utmost security and flexibility for their work to get done. One of the main reasons we started using LucidLink was due to a requirement by one of our clients, which required 72 hours of backup power in the event of a power loss. Aside from maybe the big tech companies, no one in their right mind has onsite backup power from UPS that would last 3 days. We have UPS in place, but only with enough time to fully shut down servers and other hardware properly, in the event of a brownout or planned power outage for utility maintenance. Enter LucidLink. This not only resolved the issue of 72 hours of backup power (if our LA location went out and lost power due to some act of God, like an earthquake or fire, another office could pick up from where we last left off), but also the additional feature of easy collaboration between our offices scattered around the world.Read all insights and reviews for LucidLink
