“Ease of Use and Security Audits Stand Out in LucidLink Platform Experience”

5.0
Dec 8, 2025
We love using LucidLink, not only for how easy it is to use and the feeling like you're working off your local onsite storage (and not cloud), but the flexibility it provides to allow for multiple global office locations to collaborate easily with each other is one of the biggest and best features of it. The ease of signing up users, its integration with SSO for security, and its features that allow sharing links make it an ideal platform to work from at the enterprise level, which ticks the box for the IT support team. We get audited almost annually by very large Fortune 500 clients, who demand the utmost security and flexibility for their work to get done. One of the main reasons we started using LucidLink was due to a requirement by one of our clients, which required 72 hours of backup power in the event of a power loss. Aside from maybe the big tech companies, no one in their right mind has onsite backup power from UPS that would last 3 days. We have UPS in place, but only with enough time to fully shut down servers and other hardware properly, in the event of a brownout or planned power outage for utility maintenance. Enter LucidLink. This not only resolved the issue of 72 hours of backup power (if our LA location went out and lost power due to some act of God, like an earthquake or fire, another office could pick up from where we last left off), but also the additional feature of easy collaboration between our offices scattered around the world.

LucidLink Likes & Dislikes

Like

Easy to use at the user level, easy onboarding of users, reasonable costs for what it does, great customer support, ticks the boxes of our client audits in several areas.

Like

LucidLink's streaming file access model stands out. Files are available on demand without requiring full downloads, which improves productivity and reduces storage duplication. Setup is straightforward and once configured end users can work with files as if they were local without needing to understand the underlying infrastructure.

Like

Real-time streaming access Collaboration efficiency Cross-platform support

Dislike

There's not really much, if anything, we dislike. The only thing that comes to mind is that SSO is not available in version 3.x of LucidLink, unless you commit to an annual contract. As our storage and user needs flex during the course of a year, committing to an annual contract (I think 20TB minimum is required), we have stayed on their Classic version 2.x, which includes SSO at the enterprise level.

Dislike

Performance is highly dependent on network quality. Users on slower or unstable connections may see inconsistent behavior. Administrative controls and reporting are functional but could be more detailed for larger enterprise environments.

Dislike

Performance depends on bandwidth Learning curve Cost scaling

Cloud Native file system enabling fast collaboration

    4.0
    Jan 2, 2026
My experience with LucidLink has been very positive, particularly because our teams needed fast, shared access to large files without traditional file servers. It delivers a cloud-native file system experience while maintaining performance responsiveness for distributed teams. For content-heavy workflows, it significantly simplifies collaboration and reduces operational overhead compared to managing on-prem or VPN-based file systems.
