4.6
(538 Ratings)

OrbusInfinity has been a strong fit for our Enterprise Architecture maturity journey. It has enabled us to move from static documentation to a living, operational EA capability that actively supports decision-making, delivery, and transformation. Beyond the tooling itself, we have had consistently positive experiences with Orbus training, enablement, and customer support. The platform is flexible enough to align to our internal EA principles and governance model, while still providing structure through a robust metamodel. OrbusInfinity has become a central source of architectural truth - supporting integration with our broader ecosystem, improving visibility across business, applications, technology, data, and capabilities, and helping to break down knowledge silos across, business, IT and delivery teams.

During a thorough selection process LeanIX emerged as our favorite candidate early in the process. LeanIX is an easy-to-use and quick-to-get system that allows ANY user (IT versed and non-versed) to get the information that they need, additionally, the reports and presentations enable quick communication to bring the messages across that management requires to be answered and that an EA practice is providing. Also, the extensibility has been a key factor, the ease of administration and freedom of attribute and workflow creation make it a platform where not only EAs are conserving their knowledge, but also collaborate with key functions like IT-security, data privacy and quality. So far the service has been quick and reliable and easy to access, always helpful even when tough questions needed to be answered. I also want to highlight the community-based approach and the CSM program, which helps newcomers a lot with their journey and let's you connect to other experienced customers to share knowledge on how to solve the problems at hand - in the end the problems and challenges are similar among enterprises.

Pros: Bizzdesign Horizzon/Enterprise Studio has a lot of powerful tools and is very flexible for architects to tell the architecture and portfolio management story of any technology solution or business process. With the custom query code ability, integration to OpenSearch dashboards/visualization and flexible modeling language options you can model any type of system or dataflow. With enough time to learn and build, an enterprise architect would have a very powerful tool to do their work. The team at Bizzdesign also still manage to keep the pricing affordable and accessible as compared to other similar EA tools. Cons: With so much capability, there is an impact to usability. Much of the Enterprise Studio functionality is not intuitive and there is a steep learning curve to getting proficient with all the functionality. The impact of this is very low user adoption as solution architects get frustrated and have difficulty picking up the skills to diagram in the tool. User experience from a Horizzon consumer perspective is also not very polished. The tool is meant to document technical aspects of architecture, but also to create documentation for business leaders and end users. It would be helpful if there was a cleaner "web site" like experience presented in the front end to non-technical consumers. The interface is still a little on the counterintuitive side for users without familiarity to the tool. Once again, that leads to low adoption and EAs end up having to hand-hold users through the tool. To be evaluated: There has been strong evolution at Bizzdesign with acquisitions of other technology and AI capability advancements that will seems to bring alot of value. We're waiting to see how many of the new features and advances will be added to Horizzon and Enterprise Studio. I'm hoping to see a more simplified and polished user experience from the front end service perspective and more intuitive design tools with AI assistance to increase adoption from more junior solution architects.

ADOIT has proven to be a valuable tool for reaching Enterprise Architecture. My journey with ADOIT began as a student, where the tool was used in a university course. Later I transitioned to teaching a similar course as a lecturer, and in the coming year, I will be leading the course for the fourth time. The primary objective of adopting ADOIT was to equip students with a platform for modelling interconnected EAs, enabling detailed visualizations and analysis. Nowadays, the primary objective of adopting ADOIT in our research work is to provide a platform for modeling interconnected enterprise architectures, supporting analysis, and alignment across all relevant enterprise layers.

6. Ardoq

By Ardoq

4.8
(228 Ratings)

Ardoq provides a strong, structured, and opinionated foundation for establishing an Enterprise Architecture practice. Its modular “Solutions” and predefined metamodels reduce analysis paralysis and help teams achieve quick early wins. The platform’s API enables straightforward automation, and the rapid pace of development—combined with a transparent roadmap—creates confidence that the tool continues to evolve meaningfully. Support is excellent, with fast response times and practical guidance. Viewpoints, Workspaces, Reports, Dashboards, and especially Surveys offer a well‑rounded toolkit for collecting and visualizing architectural data. However, surveys remain the critical bottleneck: they require respondents to understand both business and technical concepts, which is not always realistic, and translation needs in non‑English environments reduce the value of prebuilt content. Survey fatigue also poses a challenge, making sustained engagement difficult. Overall, Ardoq is a powerful and improving platform that accelerates EA maturity, though organizations must plan carefully for survey governance and translation workflows.

Our overall experience with BlueDolphin has been for the most part very positive. As part of the team that setup and is now administering the platform, I found it excels in building practical enterprise architecture capability rather than just storing diagrams. The real value that I have been able to decipher is in how it brings architecture, process, and transformation work into one shared environment. This shared environment makes it extremely easy for business and IT stakeholders to work from one repository which is now a source of truth for everyone in the team/organization.
