What I appreciate most is how well it integrates with SAP ERP systems. This makes data extraction and reporting consistent across all enterprise areas. The in-memory HANA engine handles structured SAP data very well in case of standard processes. Also, the connection with SAP Analysis for Office (Excel based tool) is a big plus - it's very practical and widely adopted in the company.
We can import and transform almost any data from our ECC system.
Additional features should be added pertaining to data transformation and data cleansing.
What I find most limiting is the performance drop with very large datasets and no support for unstructured data. Also, the lack of real-time reporting without additional tools is a big disadvantage in the supply-chain area. Setup and data modeling are complex and require specialist skills. This makes it harder to use in a modern enterprise setup, especially when the data is used to feed visual dashboards that need frequent updates and high granularity.
Very steep learning curve to become proficient in modeling. Requires at least some ABAP knowledge to be truly successful. BEx Analyzer is no longer updated and requires 32 bit Excel to run.
