Akamai Cloud Likes & Dislikes
Akamai cloud has been reliable for compute and latency-sensitive workloads. The UI is clean and simple to use and operate on a daily basis. The pricing is very competitive and the discounts offered on the committed usage is more than other cloud providers in the same space. Compute provisioning is very easy with a variety of commonly used operating systems and instance types to choose from. The support team is responsive and helpful. The overall infrastructure overhead is low once the initial setup is complete.
I like its high performance and global reach. The low latency delivery, reliable security features and the ability to handle high traffic easily make it a solid choice for large scale applications.
The networking components, stable prodcution ready managed kubernetes and the costing of the product.
- Lack of support of centralized logging - lack of NAT gateways that restricts the customer to have a secure internet connectivity - Identity and access management is still underdeveloped. - Documentation should be improved
I dislike its steep learning curve and the complexity of configurations for new users.
The initial learning curve of the platform is higher than the mainstream cloud providers. Some of the workflows feel very intuitive if you come from some other platforms.
