The Packet Analysis feature and real-time monitoring have saved our teams time in troubleshooting. Other teams have created some really cool reports.
Viavi's ability to roll-up performance metrics and metadata to a tool like Apex but still providing ability to get at the underlying packets. Also the value or bang for the buck is outstanding.
We had to get a lower end product, due to costs.
1. The training we received. Felt very Ad Hoc, while i understand each environment is different which is going to have an effect on the training. I just felt like it didn't speak to our needs in how it will help. 2. There is a lot of information and at the beginning it was overwhelming, which drove some away from the tool. 3.Took a long time to get setup. While i wasn't involved with the setup. From the time we were told we would have this tool to the time it was implemented was quite a long time.
The weakest piece is the OMS which is the management server that allows you to manage multiple probes and Gigastor boxes. It's Windows based and we were forced by company policy to move it to newer version of Windows and that was somewhat cumbersome and required technical support and we had to buy the upgrade disks from Viavi rather than using our existing enterprise account.

The product works extremely well on diagnosing the network traffic and the support team is very knowledgeable with it. They provide excellent instructions on how to use this product and how to access/analyze the important details within our network.
