Remote connecting with Sonicwall Global VPN Client
Sonicwall Global VPN Client can be downloaded from Sonicwall VPN Clients Section. It supports only Windows Machines (so you cannot use on Linux, Apple or Android). In order to establish a vpn connection with Global VPN Client your Sonicwall Firewall must have VPN licenses (and a static WAN IP address). Once you downloaded the file, you launch the installer (32 bit or 64 bit). The installation is simple, in most cases you only have to click next. Then you create you first VPN connection (of course you can have many). Set the IP or Domain Name and the connection name. It will soon displayed on list. Just click on enable, the connection will ask you once for a preshared key (you can obtain this preshared key from VPN section in the Sonicwall Firewall). and then for the username and password (also this data was already created in users section in the Sonicwall Firewall). If informations are correct, the connection will be successfully established. In case of problem you can have a look at the log (click on show log button). Right clicking on the connection allows you to display its properties and change settings and e.g. add other peers (if the primary peer is not available, the second one will be contacted to establish the connection). This app runs very smooth and I never see it hung. If you are looking for additional information or support you will easily find documentation on internet (if the Firewall Sonicwall has support active, you can also open a case on mysonicwall.com or call the support via phone). Indeed the inferface is simple and a bit old looking, but the program does what it was is was designed to do.
