Performance of WebStorm Across Market Features
WebStorm Likes & Dislikes
First and foremost, its code intelligence and refactoring tools are extremely good and accurate. It makes working in TS feel effortless. We can integrate frameworks, linters, and test runners quickly. I really like the debugging experience as well - it gives us reliable breakpoints and runtime inspection with zero extra configuration
It's free for non-enterprise usage, so for OSS work I believe it works!
What I like most about WebStorm is its outstanding performance and intelligent code assistance specifically designed for JavaScript, TypeScript and frameworks like React, Vue and Angular. Its built-in tools for debugging, version control and testing make development smoother and more efficient. I also like how seamlessly it integrates with Node.js and how polished the overall workflow feels - it's clear that it's built with web developers in mind.
I think the biggest downside of WebStorm is that it can be very demanding on CPU and memory, which can slow things down during heavy tasks. Also, if you're working on multiple projects and switching between them often, it causes noticeable performance dips when switching between multiple large projects. However, I think these are acceptable trade-offs given the cons it comes with
It's hard to learn: a steep learning curve. Keybinds, even if you can just migrate from your previous code editor, are still hard and some of them don't come over. You either find the one and change it or you click. Click, click, click.
While WebStorm excels in web development, it's not as versatile as other IDEs when it comes to supporting multiple programming languages or frameworks outside JavaScript ecysystem. It can also feel a bit heavy on resources when working with very large projects, and since some plugins are limited to JetBrains ecosystem, it's less flexible than open-source alternatives.

WebStorm Offers Deep Code Understanding but Demands Significant Hardware Performance
It is built on top of the IntelliJ platform, meaning it deeply understands our code, the relationships between files, and the specific quirks of frameworks like React, Vue, Angular, and Node.js. Advanced automated error-checking and refactoring capabilities.
