Ease of developement.
It reduces operational overhead and makes the API layer easier to maintain. Without putting much effort we have rate limiting, auth, injection protections and many more enabled with simple plugins.
Learning curve can be a bit high for new users. The pricing structure can be expensive if you decide to utilize premium plugins or dedicated support and with multiple APIs this can add up. We had to develop a lot of custom plugins due to the limited OOTB functionality provided by Kong.
Not all capabilities are found in the product. For instance most of the features have been offloaded to external vendors to make the product lighter, but this makes it difficult for consumers to implement solutions on KONG itself not depending on the third party providers . eg OAuth2.0
Documentation is generally rich and helpful, but sometimes you need experience in order to find right approach and get help from the community. For example, when creating jwt plugin and request transformers we were not able to make it work with the examples from the documentation but with some workarounds and help from the community.

My experience with Kong Konnect has been very positive as the platform is incredibly intuitive, allowing us to easily manage and monitor APIs at scale. Kong Enhances API Monitoring But Documentation Sometimes Requires Community Assistance
