Most impressive aspect of Maya is its powerful animation and rigging toolset. It offers precise control over texture and rigging. The software handles complex scenes and integrate well with other tools like Sketchup which we use to build other styles of the assets.
The software is very stable when handling heavy scenes in development pipelines. With the use of plugins you can even do the work faster. It can easily be deployed to multiple users with the available management tools.
Maya offers a great route into 3D graphics whether your a novice creating your first 3D environment, all the way through to professional animation production.
Main challenge with Maya is its steep learning curve. The interface can be a bit complex and it takes time to get used to it. Additionally, the license cost is expensive that it may not be affordable for freelancers and small studios. The software need powerful system to run.
The software is very expensive which can be a drawback if this is not your main focus. It also requires training and it definitely not a tool for beginners. The interface is partly renewed but some parts are not as intuitive as other tools.
It can be overly complex to get started and get into, but ultimately the tool is very complex and mature, so the learning curve isn't too steep and is manageable for such a comprehensive tool.
