I love the powerful and accurate search capability it can search the same things in seconds that will take me manually more than an hour sometimes, also easy integration setup with existing tools with minimal effort and also its very user friendly if we see the interface that the user will use.
Sometimes it digs up forgotten documents.
Glean has very strong relevance and ranking capabilities across the different sources of truth that we allow it to have access to. Glean can understand what I'm asking and also has the full picture of how it is relevant. This is its strongest asset, and is a game-changer when trying to spin-up a tool or assistant. Its strength also lies in its ability to be tuned and customized without requiring the platform team to step-in; this is a big time saver and another step towards improved efficiency.
Sometimes newly added date takes time to appear in search results and the authentication time for the clean sometimes takes a little longer but it's very minimal and does not affect user productivity.Also, pricing may be slightly higher for small teams or startups
Here we go.. - need to be careful when connecting it to internal data sources (confluence, SharePoint, etc.), as you might end up in situations where hidden data is suddenly indexed and publicly accessible. E.g.,HR paperwork, contracts, etc. Glean does its best to maintain permissions, but even after being careful we were bitten by a couple of unexpected disclosures. - negotiation. It really felt like they were doing us a favor by entertaining our inquiries, arranging a demo, etc. If it were only up to me I would have dropped them there and then. - Quality of search results on internal data repositories. It's useful in 20% of the cases, at the point where I just don't bother anymore. - Quite expensive
Like most new products, the learning curve was a bit steep. The depth of the UI was overwhelming at first, which caused some downtime of trial and error, but the onboarding sessions provided by their AI outcomes manager were superb in answering many of my questions. Since it is such a powerful tool, some of the ways that it works is difficult to understand, and without a thorough understand of its decision-making, I was, at times, left confounded about what was actually happening.
