I like the products ability to capture the dependencies of all our companies systems. By understanding what we have and how everything is connected it is much easier to coordinate changes and to run DR and critical incident response programs. I also find the runbook capability very useful for system modifications, DR, and trouble shooting.
1. Selection services - gave us a view of how TDS would handle our move and the level of expertise they could provide. 2. Transition Manager - remarkable software which tracked our applications, servers and dependencies as well as the tasks to be done. 3. Project manager - our project manager ran the project so efficiently and ensured we were ready for each move event.
I would like to see the product be able to integrate with commercial ITSM tools and CMDBs better.
Unfortunately, the only downside of the project was just the number of hours and resources required. This was not anything TDS could have prevented.

In 2014 our company embarked on an ambitious project to mover our production systems to a co-location data center. Our company had operated as a holdings company for the majority of its existence. We had hundreds of applications and interconnected systems. Our systems dependencies had never been properly documented and in many instances never documented at all. Using Transition Manager we were able to document, classify, and for the first time understand our companies entire infrastructure and application landscape. Having a full understanding of our environment we were able to parse our systems into move waves. We minimized outage periods and were able to successfully migrate without issue all our production systems to the new data center. Transition Manager allowed us to take our complicated environment and see it in a simplified form. Essential for Data Center Migration - Potential for much more
This solution was integral to the migration of our data center. We were able to identify and document system, db, application, etc. integrations and dependencies and then group events and build runbooks to fail resources to the new data center. We had initially thought that the product would only be utilized for the migration events, but now see much more potential in the operational spaces.
