Rapid Response and Expertise: Beazley Security's Winning Strategy Against Ransomware
In 2023, our organization faced a severe ransomware attack that encrypted critical systems and halted operations. Beazley Security's team was engaged immediately through our cyber insurance and promptly initiated containment measures by confirming the network was completely isolated and began deploying SentinelOne EDR to scan all computers for threats. They met with our Emergency Operations Team (IT, department heads, senior management) twice each day (morning and afternoon) seven days per week to review progress and coordinate next steps. Beazley Security led the forensic investigations, and while a significant amount of data was either encrypted or deleted, they were still able to deliver a comprehensive report identifying that the threat actor initially breached our security an entire month earlier via a VPN connection and their movement within the network. They also provided recommendations to improve our cybersecurity posture, such as policy changes for passwords, VPN, MFA and account permissions. Additionally, Beazley Security had one of their team members on-site at the beginning of the recovery/forensics process to assist with rebuilding servers, Active Directory, and storage systems. Their rapid deployment and expertise in containment and remediation was instrumental in reducing the downtime from the originally estimated 2 months to us being operational with our core systems in only 2 weeks.
