The product itself (Data Domain) has served us well and continues to do so.
One of the biggest advantages that I saw is its duplication capability. It really helps reduce storage consumption, which makes a big difference when managing large volumes of backup data. Replication has also been smooth
There is a very specific way to get the most out of the product. If you are striving for the best data compression and deduplication. This did require us to adjust our backup plan to fit the product.
The overall technical support experience, and the fact that we lose too much time going through L1 and L2 support over and over again... our engineers are extremely capable and know the products better than 95% of the L1/L2 support engineers, which has also been confirmed by our local Dell EMC contacts, and should be able to use a 'direct line' to a L3 engineer when they need to or ask this without us having to pay for an extra support contract that does allow us to do so.
Its initial investment is quite high , not just hardware, but also for licensing support, and potential expansion.
