1) Scalability: Grow with the organization by handling more resources and workflows without losing clarity. 2) Seamless integration with IDR with all the existing detection rules. 3) Transparency: Orchestration shows where each insight comes from, which builds trust and confidence.
For the plug-in's that are available, they work well.
1. The nice space layout where you can zoom in and out of your workflow is nice when working on much larger ones. 2. The amount of support and integration that InsightConnect has now is amazing, we can use many other products and link it all in to InsightConnect, not just other Rapid7 products. 3. The ability to create snippets, these are smaller workflows that you can link into your main workflow, these are great for pieces where you are doing the same process in multiple workflows, you can just create one snippet and then put it into the multiple workflows.
1) Complex documentation, is difficult for the beginners to understand about the product. 2) Custom API integration is complex, Most of the integrations will not be supported by the product team. 3) Tailoring workflows and dashboards to unique business needs may be restricted or require advanced expertise.
Many of the plug-in's are only available for top-tier products without customization. This tends to favor companies with high security budgets. Building workflows/automation have been challenging. They require knowledge of writing JSON queries, not plug and play. Getting the plug in > trigger > automation > workflow to work correctly is challenging. Nothing is automated out of the box.
What I really dislike is the lack of an AI agent to assist with the workflows and provide you with information if you ask it questions, it would be nice with the movement of AI to get an agent in there to assist with building a workflow and help when you get stuck with the Rapid7 documentation placed behind the agent.

InsightConnect is a really useful product that we use all the time. The focus for us being a small security team is to implement as much automated workflows as possible with Rapid7 InsightIDR so if during the night something happens we can guarantee that InsightConnect has run the workflow to stop an incident from progressing further when we are not on hand to deal with it. It's been a learning curve to get to grips with how it works and we've been using it for the best part of 4-5 years now, but with lots of work and testing, we have some really great and powerful automated workflows that aid us in stopping attacks fast and also some workflows written to help the IT support team with automated user management within Office 365 and Active Directory. Insight Connect is the orchestrator for Insight Detection and Response (IDR). Performance is dependent upon which IDR tier is part of the subscription, there are three tiers. One step solution for IT security automation
Overall experience was great. Insightconnect is cloud-based IT security automation that helped us to do automation, integration, synchronization and alerting. We were able to integrate with multiple different tools easily and reduce man hours/days. Integration helped a lot with managing the assets and user objects. Integration with SNOW helped in enhancing the data driving capability and ticketing.
