The suite of product has made a night-and-day change to efficient processes, from build to roll-out, and through ongoing use day-to-day. It is as complex as we want it to be - simple process automation, or full integration with all of our other systems either via automation and workflows, API connectivity, or even custom scripts.
The best features of Laserfiche are the form submission process which makes uploading documents and storing them in the correct place easy. The tagging structure and automatic metadata as part of this process is also great and will make records more searchable and data easily accessible. In addition, the AI chatbot is an extremely helpful tool that makes searching various documents efficient and quick.
Laserfiche is a well-designed platform that adheres to Microsoft best practices and guidance, which has made is easier to configure and maintain the backend in accordance with our organizations cybersecurity requirements.
1) Limitations of programming in a low-code-no-code environment - JavaScript is a bit more complicated than it needs to be. 2) No ability yet to build or administer workflows in-browser - only review. The desktop application is a little dated.
While Laserfiche is a very robust system, it is not a platform that can be implemented and deployed with solely internal resources of a records manager. An outside consultant was necessary and the framework build has been ongoing. Further, workflow builds or changes will require outside assistance, unless an internal IT source can be a dedicated resource.
Laserfiche was slow to gain their CJIS certification for their cloud environment. They have completely ignored integrting disaster recovery in their cloud and on prim offerings. One of the big topics in our government CISO calls with the Fed has been around Azure Purview integrations into various systems such as Outlook, Teams, Onedrive, EMR, and ECM systems. Our organization has asked Laserfiche leadership if this was even on their roadmap. We were directed to a different var that specializes in Laserfiche integrations and they had no interest. We would be willing to pay whatever it takes to get this baked in to the Laserfiche application. I think that Laserfiche as a company is starting to express an Old Money mentality in comparison to one of their main competitors.

However, we needed a consultant to assist with the building of the structure and the workflows. This is not an "out of the box" solution and is very technical in nature.
