The solution itself is excellent - seamless "behind the scenes" integration with SAP and the ability to handle extremely complex incentive situations. But getting competent deploy resources was an ongoing challenge, and Vistex is not an easy partner.

There is nothing to dislike about the product. It allows you be create very simple or very complex incentives. If your team goes the path of supporting many complex incentive models, you will have a much higher TCO. But that is a business decision that can be managed.

Vistex Suite of Applications : Special Pricing & Incentive Programs
Vistex Incentive programs handle complex rebate solutions covering volume based rebates, scale based rebates , pre-negotiated rebates etc. Standard SAP rebates do not cater to some of the very important aspects of sales data aggregation and are purely transaction based. Vistex Incentives administration models on the hand provides flexibility to handle transactions based business models as well as complex composite business models where the complex rebates are paid based out of actual sales data aggregated in complex matrices formed by special key figures and deployment components. The actual sales can be based out of standard sales orders or invoices billed to the customers which in turn also updates special knowledgeable information buckets. Tracking runs on these buckets per period configured in the system to do the rebate settlements. Some Settlements are done monthly, some quarterly and some even annually. Big distributors can also take the advantage of these rebate programs to turn in special charge backs to the manufactures post they have done actual sale of the products and can get benefited by the huge margins they can make on contracts they have with manufacturer. I would recommend more businesses to move Vistex suite of applications and make an automated & advanced approach towards dealing complex rebate programs , incentive administration, special dynamic pricing techniques with an astounding approvals process in place.
