Overview

Product Information on Symantec Endpoint Encryption (SEE)

Updated 13th October 2025

What is Symantec Endpoint Encryption (SEE)?

Symantec Endpoint Encryption is a software designed to protect sensitive data on endpoints through encryption of hard drives and removable media. It offers centralized management for deploying encryption policies, monitoring compliance, and handling recovery processes across devices within an organization. The software supports integration with authentication solutions and allows administrators to enforce data protection protocols to reduce risks associated with data loss or unauthorized access. Symantec Endpoint Encryption addresses the business problem of data security and regulatory compliance by safeguarding information stored on endpoints, even in cases of device theft or loss, while enabling organizations to manage encryption operations efficiently.

Symantec Endpoint Encryption (SEE) Pricing

Symantec Endpoint Encryption software uses a subscription-based pricing model where licensing fees are based on the number of endpoints and duration of use. The software is licensed per device, with options for annual or multi-year terms. Pricing may vary depending on volume, feature requirements, and support plans selected.

CRITICAL

“Unstable product with sub-standard support”

2.0
Dec 22, 2017
My team has had significant challenges with supporting this product. It is storage device sensitive and Symantec has traditionally played "catch up" with compatibility, especially with laptop SSD drives and whole disk encryption. The outcome has been a fairly unstable product that leads to outages and data destruction. Symantec has frequent updates to their SEE product but can never seem to "get it right."

Performance of Symantec Endpoint Encryption (SEE) Across Market Features

Symantec Endpoint Encryption (SEE) Likes & Dislikes

Like

What I like most about Symantec Endpoint Encryption is its robust encryption capabilities and centralized management. The combination of full disk and removable media encryption ensures comprehensive protection of sensitive data, while the centralized management console simplifies monitoring, policy enforcement, and compliance reporting across multiple devices.

Like

It performs well when compatibility with endpoint hardware. No appreciable degradation of performance with whole disk encryption.

Like

We can easily pushed the policies or rules via Windows group policies.

Dislike

What I like least about it is that the initial setup and configuration can be complex, especially for organizations with limited IT resources. Additionally, while the encryption is robust, it may introduce slight performance impacts on older hardware.

Dislike

Instability. Lack of effective vendor support.

Dislike

Graphic interface needs to be update and if possible web console requires for administration.

Great in theory, difficult to use for end users

Encryption works great. Software doesn't always work great. Big issue just like all encryption software is if boot sector errors, recovery software from vendor must be used to decrypt hdd. Software also complicates removable storage, requiring password or additional software on removable device, increasing difficulty for end user.

I tasted many version. Installation was straight forward but there some pre-requests not very easy to make. Example, for TLS configuration.
