The single biggest thing Tanium does better than anything else i have worked is the speed of data. When i query an endpoint, i get the answers in seconds, not the next morning or after 24hrs. That might sound like a small thing, but belive me during an audit when the auditor asks for evidence, this matter a alot. The unified agent model is also a clear differentiator. We are not deploying separate agents for patching, compliance, asset inventory, and security. One agent does all of it, which keeps our endpoint overhead low and reduces the surface area of tools we need to manage.
What i like the most about Tanium is its ability to provide real time visibility and control across endpoints in the environment, and the ease of deployment due to the cloud offering. I also appreciate the breadth of the platform, as it continues to add multiple capabilities.
What I like most about the Tanium Autonomous IT platform is its ease of deployment and centralized management, which allowed me to quickly install it across AWS EC2 and Windows environments and then seamlessly handle monitoring ,patching and compliance tasks alongside my core DBA responsibilities.
The onboarding experience was not a great, the platform is powerful but it does not hold our hands and unless we have someone who already knows Tanium its difficult to know the full potential and use it.
On the product side, there are capabilities that are tied to higher product-tier bundles, which means you often have to purchase additional modules or entire packages just to access a specific feature. On the service side, the lack of direct access to Tanium support is a real challenge.
What I dislike most about Tanium Platform is that its resource consumption can be occupying high at times which as a DBA makes my job a bit difficult to troubleshoot as in our environments we have multiple agents running in parallel and this consumption may impact the server performance at times and require our coordination with the Infra team to fine -tune usage

Powerful and Versatile Endpoint Management Platform with Strong SaaS Transition but Interface and Learning Curve Remains Challenging
Tanium's SaaS offering, Tanium Cloud, has been a real game changer. I was part of the team carrying out the migration from our self-hosted server to SaaS, removing the previous operational burden and allowing us to solely focus on managing our endpoints. The migration was smooth and there was plenty of available vendor support. Tanium agents provide near real-time data collection which has been invaluable for risk visibility and reporting. We leverage the dashboard to categorise risks, gather system information across our servers, and generate structured report-ready outputs. A large portion of our domain-specific reporting is based on these scans, and the platform has become central to our endpoint security strategy. It's one of the most versatile security and endpoint management platforms that I have personally come across.
