The software signatures update automatically so there is recognition of even the most obscure products. It gives us greater control of our inventory. It enables us to record our licence entitlements in detail, providing assurance that we can easily trace our product procurements. Other products i have seen do not go as far in providing the level of detail. I also like the level of detail in the system - pulled from Active Directory and the discovery agent. It's such a great source of easily accessible information regarding our assets. It can be really useful in a variety of situations.
Speciality Software consumption and cloud consumption
The tool has a lot of capability in tracking software so that information can be contained within one place
The initial investment of time to input legacy software can be time consuming but it is worth it to achieve a stable licence position. At one stage we did have the discovery running more regularly but it caused issues on our network. To be fair we haven't tried this since and are happy with the discovery frequency in place. It is a very comprehensive tool but can be daunting to a new user - training is key to addressing this.
Endpoint consumption and Autodiscovery
There is a lot that can be done within the tool it can be overwhelming trying to work out how to best manage this however the team are very knowledgeable and have the expertise to best advise on any queries.
