Performance of Contentful Platform Across Market Features
Contentful Platform Likes & Dislikes
I really enjoy using Contentful due to: - the platform's core performance - it works well for our needs and setup; - thoughtful updates and functionalities; for example, the new pattern where one can navigate e.g. from a component a few levels back in a section just by clicking on the desired window - it's more visual now; - intuitive navigation & UI - the collaboration aspect - it's nice seeing who was the last user to update a model, to track the progression of its use
Read Full ReviewThey respond quickly and they regularly check in on feedback while delivering a feature for you. It feels like they take our input seriously which is really nice. The meetings and working sessions that we have had with the Contentful team were always very efficient and fruitful. Additionally, our content editors like to work with Contentful as they think the UI is quite user friendly and straight forward. It's also quite easy to create new content types and using custom apps gives you a lot of flexibility too.
Read Full ReviewThe product is very flexible, it has been able to handle our peak traffic times without issue, update statuses are clear if something is published or in draft mode, you can schedule an update for a later time which has been great for timed announcements. Overall it has been relatively easy to learn how to use and quickly become productive.
Read Full Review- missing duplicate functionality: since one cannot duplicate content models, the needed model needs to be rebuilt from scratch, which feels unnecessary and time consuming; in design & code, one can easily reuse base structures for a more efficient workflow - when creating a new updated, component (component v1 VS component V2)- the work that goes into the migration becomes very tedious: e.g. if a component which previously consisted of text-only is then updated to let's say text & image, content managers have to manually copy-paste all the text and basically build from scratch instead of having a smarter or smoother solution; I'd imagine some automation could create partial migrations or aid in the process; - lack of adding folders in the workspace - we're currently relying on naming the right entities to figure out the different clusters building e.g. a page; sure, we have the filtering tool & we can see how each building block is used, as well as on what pages, but it can sometimes be easier and quicker to have a visual distinction too;
Read Full ReviewIt can take a long time for them to deliver a new feature to the market. Integration possibilities are quite limited, especially if in your architecture it doesn't make sense to import everything to Contentful. There are very limited options in template configurations for dynamic pages such as product details pages.
Read Full ReviewIt doesn't support search for the frontend without third-party integration. I don't know if this is a limitation of Contentful or how we built it, but I wish we could use the same space to trigger a deploy to stage then prod separately, currently any publishing in Contentful goes to all environments so there isn't really a way to test it after we went live.

Contentful Enables Efficient Workflow but Manual Processes Slow Content Migration
We've had a really positive experience working with Contentful as a vendor. While I'm not the contact person in our team, meaning I don't interact much with our customer success manager or the support team, I've heard from my colleagues that they're responsive and genuinely helpful when we need guidance or have questions about our setup. I did check out their training options initially, but it was actually faster and more effective for me to just dive into my team's setup and learn hands-on rather than going through the course materials. Overall, it feels like a solid partnership and we're happy with the product too. - Product Owner App (Experience)1B-10B USDRetailReview Source
Contentful Praised For Usability Yet Lacks Dynamic Templates And Integration Features
Communication and collaboration with Contentful in general goes well. The working sessions at their office have been very useful. But when delivering new features, in my opinion it goes quite slow. They have been working on a core content scheduling and previewing feature for us which is taking almost two years now. Within the dynamic world of digital, this is way too slow so we were already looking for competitor toolings. Also in terms of AI, I think they are not as far as other competitors. Additionally, in our workflows we are still missing a lot of important functionalities like templating for dynamic pages (product detail pages for ecommerce) and in general it's not that easy to integrate other systems into Contentful. - IT ManagerGov't/PS/EdEducationReview Source
Contentful is exactly the flexible CMS we were looking for to allow dynamic content updates with our custom UI
We integrated Contentful as our CMS for the past year and a half. We are able to dynamically update our website's home page to be up-to-date as well as our resource pages that contain training materials, guides, and general user assets. We also use Contentful to manage our announcement banners for real-time user alerts. It has been wonderful as we were able to build the frontend to have a seamless look and feel as the rest of our application's UI/UX and have the CMS control to update text, images, and assets without development releases being necessary. Contentful has been cost-effective, easy to learn, and met our requirements with flying colors. We support different teams and they can all update their pages and resources separately as needed. - OPERATIONS STRATEGIST50M-1B USDSoftwareReview Source
Flexibility and Customization Drive Efficiency
Switching to Contentful was a game-changer for our team. The platform's incredible flexibility allowed us to design a custom content model that perfectly aligns with our content strategists' fast-paced CRO strategy needs. This has not only accelerated our content production, but has also optimized our developer resources, enabling us to continuously evolve the CMS without adding chaos. It's a simple streamlined product that has been key to our web growth and future proofing. - IT Manager50M-1B USDRetailReview Source
Handling Environments and Locales Simplifies Multi-Region Content Delivery Processes
This product initially caught our interest due to its headless CMS concept, which aligns well with our e-commerce business model as a corporation delivering content across multiple brands and localisations. Over time the product has continued to evolve, introducing a range of new features, some of which have been relevant to our needs, while others are more tailored to other businesses seeking a more traditional WYSIWYG experience. The main challenges we've encountered involve API rate limits and platform uptime, both of which required us to implement additional systems and custom developments to ensure stability and scalability. Platform content model has helped us engage content creators across multiple squads, enabling context definition and role separation, while decoupling data management from data rendering in our user interfaces.
