Docusign CLM Likes & Dislikes
Docusign CLM fills a meaningful market gap by providing a structured, reliable way to track documents through a full review and approval lifecycle. The interface feels modern, friendly, and easy to work with, and the platform includes many indispensable capabilities, for example - collaborative commenting, real-time editing within Microsoft files, and customizable task notification emails. It's easy to envision how an organization can move its processes out of email and optimize workflows using this platform.
It streamlines the workflows and centralises the contract management
It is one of the industry standards for e-signatures, which translates directly to reliability and Ease of Integration. For me, the biggest benefit is knowing that the platform is very trustworthy and easy to integrate into our Legal application. We transfer sensitive legal information in documents to external clients and DocuSign handles it securely every single time. It's that proven reliability that makes my job easier because I don't have to worry about testing the signature part of the application, I know it just works.
1. The platform's perceived simplicity can lead to underestimating the time and effort required to achieve the desired outcome. Because Docusign CLM presents as a clean, intuitive, COTS-style solution, it's easy for organizations and implementation partners to assume it can be deployed quickly with minimal effort. In reality, the platform is highly capable, flexible, and configurable and achieving the expected experience often requires more time, discovery, and customization than initially anticipated. This gap between perception and what is actually needed can result in initial implementations that don't fully align with how the organization envisioned the system would work. 2. Achieving a successful implementation requires thoughtful process work, which is not always emphasized by solution providers. Successful adoption of CLM depends on thoroughly understanding and refining the underlying processes before configuration begins. This requires a human-centered design approach and meaningful UX involvement to assess current workflows, streamline them, and clarify how they interact with surrounding systems and adjacent processes. Solution providers often focus on implementing CLM based on the requirements given to them, but without dedicated time spent clarifying and strengthening the underlying process, it's difficult to achieve the most effective outcome, which can ultimately limit usability and long-term adoption. 3. Core platform usage data is not easily accessible in a consolidated format. It would be helpful if key administrative and usage data, such as license utilization and envelope activity, were easier to access in the platform. We obtain this information through the Docusign customer success team, who have been a great support.
It has a learning curve and initially the integration can be complex, sometimes it loads up very slowly as well.
I don't have any issues with the actual signing part because that is super easy. My main dislike is about the cost and complexity when you start scaling up or trying to use the full CLM features. The pricing model can be confusing and it gets expensive quickly as you send more and more envelopes. The initial set also requires a lot of consulting work which is a major factor why I didn't give it a 5 star.

Docusign CLM delivers exceptional value when organizations pair it with thoughtful, human-centered processes
Overall, my experience has been very positive. As a solutions partner, Docusign has been consistently responsive and committed to supporting our work. While there are natural complexities that come with product and integration work, the team has shown accountability, collaboration, and a genuine interest in mutual success. From a platform perspective, Docusign CLM has proven to be one of the most intuitive solutions we evaluated for document approval routing. We've implemented it for our client, and it has been exceptionally received. Adoption is progressing well, reflecting both the platform's ease of use and the shift away from previously fragmented, email-driven processes toward a more consistent and structured workflow. The platform is effectively addressing the inefficiencies it was selected to solve and supporting a more streamlined approval experience. - SOFTWARE ENGINEER50M-1B USDSoftwareReview Source
Reliable Integration and Secure Document Transfer Highlighted With Compliance Strengths
My experience so far has been very positive. The platform is truly reliable for compliance purposes. In fact, I received my offer letter from my current company and signed all our HR policies through it, so I know the audit trail is solid for internal compliance. From my automation testing side, the best part is seeing how simple and reliable the integration is. In the legal application I test regularly, we transfer sensitive documents to clients and external contractors frequently, and docusign handles that external transfer securely every single time. It's the industry standard so it makes testing our application smoother because the integration works seamlessly every single time. - PROJECT MANAGER, LEGAL OPS1B-10B USDManufacturingReview Source
DocuSign wins again!
We implemented DocuSign CLM soon after SpringCM was acquired. It was the best of the small group of competitors. The costs were higher, but the product and support team continue to deliver and cost became a smaller and smaller factor in our decision to renew. DS CLM is robust, fairly easy to use, and dependable, creating trust in the application within our user base. The support team that comes with the DS CLM implementation has made all the difference and has been key to our continued success. Additionally, as DocuSign acquires new technology, they improve it and deliver it to their customers in a consistent high quality manner. Having used DS CLM for nearly 6 years, I still believe we made the best choice. - COO<50M USDHealthcare and BiotechReview Source
