OnBase is a very unique platform in the enterprise content management space. The ability to automate documents and case management objects within a very mature workflow engine is unmatched among other vendors. However, in recent years, the company's leadership has lost sight of what truly makes OnBase unique. As a result they have invested in other products and platforms at the expense of maintaining OnBase. Basic bug fixes take months if not years. Some things never get fixed or improved.

    It is a great product that has many uses and can be utilized by just about any area within the healthcare organization. I am a new admin for our organization and while I have never used the product as an end user, I feel confident building things out for my company with some assistance of course.

The team is flexible, highly thorough, and provides strong support with exceptional attention to detail, ensuring all the requirements are met and nothing is overlooked during a solution implementation.

The unique feature sets of OnBase is the biggest draw of the product.

I like that they think about the whole picture instead of just focusing on the abilities of their product.

Dislike

Some departments felt the interface was not modern, that document classification would require significant effort, and that managing access for external teams and the public might be insufficient; they expected a simplified user experience but when demoed, they did believe the product would not be easy to use.

Dislike

Hyland's ability to offer premier technical support and to continue to enhance the product to be a modern platform has degraded in the last 5-7 years. I don't see this improving unless they make a major pivot to heavily invest in the platform to modernize it while maintaining the current features that we all depend on every day. Currently they seem focused on developing brand new products in the cloud without much regard to achieving feature parity with the current platform. Overall, it's an amazing product with company leadership that doesn't seem to understand what makes it special or why customers depend on it to solve business problems.

Dislike

I know why your product has its own IDP but it's not required for our environment so it becomes unnecessary complexity in an already complex environment. The ability to bypass this feature would be advantageous.
