As a Business Analyst in a mid-market organisation, we adopted Zoho Expense within the last few months to bring more structure to our expense reporting process. Previously, expense submissions were handled through a mix of spreadsheets and email chains, which made tracking and reconciliation painful. Zoho Expense has brought some order to that - employees now have a defined place to submit claims, and approvers at least have a centralised view of pending requests.

Like

The core concept is solid. Having expense tracking and approval workflows under one roof is a step up from our previous ad-hoc process. The ability to capture receipts and tag them to expense categories has reduced some of the manual effort involved in month-end reconciliation. For straightforward expense submissions, the tool gets the job done without requiring significant technical knowledge from end users.

Zoho Expense is a convenient tool for managing travel and expenses through real-time automation. The iOS mobile application enables me to work on-the-go over the internet.

Zoho Expense has very effective and powerful data safety features which allows us to keep our financial data safe and confidential. It has a very user-friendly interface that makes it easy for everyone to navigate through and record their expenses. Zoho Expense offers multiple options for recording expenses like receipt scanning or uploading which makes it easy to collect and track all our expenses. It has a very robust reporting feature that provides us with precise financial reports, making it easy for us to monitor all our expenditure activities and also determine our performance in expense management.

Dislike

The approval workflow feels rigid for our use case. Customising multi-level approval chains to match how our organisation actually operates took more effort than expected, and some configurations weren't intuitive to set up. On the automation side, we expected smarter handling of recurring expenses and policy enforcement - for instance, flagging out-of-policy claims automatically - but the current capabilities feel fairly basic compared to what the product markets itself as. There have also been occasional inconsistencies in how expense rules apply, which has caused confusion among approvers. For a tool we've only been using a few months, the troubleshooting burden has been higher than anticipated.

Dislike

I do not have any aspect that I like least about Zoho Expense at the moment since I am able to handle all repetitive accounting tasks via my iOS mobile app.

Zoho Expense has been a solid tool for us to manage our expenses and we have not discovered anything to dislike about it.
