TierPoint Disaster Recovery as a Service Likes & Dislikes
Consistent RPO performance - Replication consistently meets our recovery point objectives, providing confidence that our data protection windows are being maintained. Quality facilities - TierPoint's data center facilities are professionally maintained, secure, and meet enterprise standards for environmental controls and physical security. Reliable Live Recovery testing - Annual disaster recovery tests have generally proceeded smoothly, validating that our protected workloads can be recovered when needed. Service availability - The core DRaaS platform operates reliably with minimal unplanned outages or replication failures.
Very reliable and the quality of service is exceptionally great.
The tool is tightly integrated into our VMware ecosystem and I like the visibility and monitoring it provides of what is backed up and the current states. The intuitive dashboard offers easy management of backups, easy restore processes and the compatibility of a wide range of operating systems.
Lack of consultative guidance - As first-time DRaaS customers, we were not adequately guided through the best practices, architecture decisions, or operational considerations. We expected a more advisory relationship and instead received a more transactional one. Complex re-IPing process during failover - The process of re-addressing systems during a failover event is a manual, time-consuming, and error prone. There is no streamlined automation for handling large-scale IP changes. DNS gaps - Coordinating NS changes during failover is cumbersome and lacks integration. For organizations with many protected systems, this creates significant operational overhead and extends recovery time. Limited failover orchestration - There is no robust runbook automation or orchestration capability for failing over large numbers of systems in a coordinated, sequenced manner.
I cannot think of anything I dislike.
The documentation could be a bit more comprehensive to guide users through each independent use cases.

Consistent Service and Facility Quality Contrasted With Cumbersome Recovery Operations
TierPoint DRaaS has been a reliable service from a core functionality standpoint, with consistently low RPO and successful annual Live Recovery tests. However, our experience has been hampered by a lack of consultative guidance during initial implementation. As first-time DRaaS adopters, we expected more strategic partners and best-practice recommendations than we received. The facilities themselves are impressive and well-maintained, but the operation aspects of failover, particularly around re-IPing and DNS management for large-scale recoveries, remain cumbersome and time-consuming. The service works as advertised, but the overall experience has not been as streamlined as we anticipated. - ManagerOSP Manger<50M USDTelecommunicationReview Source

Harnessing the Power of Tierpoint: A Firsthand Experience

Best in class backup and restore tool with consistent customer service
The tool is robust, easy to schedule backups and does not affect computer performance while backups are running. The support team has been more than accommodating in helping us make our backup and restore configurations as successful as possible.
