Performance of Atlassian Confluence Across Market Features
Atlassian Confluence Likes & Dislikes
1) Excellent integration with Jira Seamless linking between Jira issues, epics, and Confluence pages enables strong traceability between delivery and documentation, which is critical for PMOs and enterprise programs. 2) Flexible, living documentation Pages are easy to update, versioned automatically, and well suited for evolving artifacts such as decision logs, RAID registers, operating models, and SteerCo reporting. 3) Strong collaboration and transparency Commenting, mentions, page history, and permissions support cross-team collaboration and leadership visibility relying on static documents. 4) Extensive ecosystem of macros and add-ons Marketplace apps significantly extend Confluence for reporting, diagrams, tables, and structure content.
Tight Jira integration which makes it easy to connect product requirements, decisions and documentation to actual work in progress. Flexible page templates and structure, allowing teams to document everything from PRDs to retros in a consistent but adaptable way. Strong collaboration features, like inline comments, version history, and permissions, which support cross-functional alignment without a lot of overhead.
I found it very helpful for us because (i) This is a centralized knowledge base for a project. It is excellent for creating a single source of info with organized pages and spaces. So that anyone can access it in future if required. (ii) I found it has strong integration and seamless connects with Bitbucket and JIRA, which makes the life easy for us in terms of documenting JIRA and bitbucket updates on confluence page. (iii) It have rich editing, versatile formatting, templets and dynamic macros to build a detailed pages with advanced features. (iv) It has feature to provide page level permission control which is very very essential for managing sensitive or departmental information within the business line.
1) Limited native roll-up and aggregation capabilities Summarizing content across multiple pages or child pages often requires manual effort or marketplace apps. 2) Dashboarding for executives is not fully native Leadership-level dashboards and dynamic summaries typically require add-ons or custom page structures. 3) Content quality depends heavily on governance Without page templates and standards, spaces can quickly become inconsistent and hard to navigate. 4) Search relevance can degrade at scale In large instances, finding the right content depends on disciplined labeling and structure
Content sprawl and weak information architecture, which makes long-term knowledge management difficult without heavy governance. Editor performance and UX quirks, especially on larger pages or when formatting complex content. Search relevance, which can be inconsistent, makes it harder to quickly find the most up-to-date information.
Things which I disliked the most about this product : (i) Sometimes it becomes sluggish which hiders the writing and editing experience especially with large pages or pages with many macros. (ii) I faced complex navigation, finding specific content across multiple spaces becomes unintuitive. (iii) I think it has outdated UI/UX, the editor and overall interface feel dated compared to modern interfaces. (iv) Pricing is significant for large organizations making it a considerable investment.

Powerful enterprise documentation and collaboration platform, especially effective when paired with Jira and strong governance
Confluence is a strong enterprise knowledge and collaboration platform for documenting processes, decisions, risks, and project artifacts at scale. It works particularly well when paired with Jira to provide traceability from execution to documentation. While the core capabilities are solid and reliable, advanced reporting, aggregation, and dashboards styles views often require add-ons or manual structure. Overall, Confluence delivers high value governance and page standards are clearly defined. - Design Engineer10B+ USDHardwareReview Source
Project Collaboration Enhanced by Confluence, Yet Navigational Challenges Remain for Teams
For the companies where lots of teams are working on same project from different counties, Confluence is the one powerful hub for entire project related progress tracing and documentation, fostering collaboration across teams. This makes the process of accessing any project related information very easy for anyone who wants to get project related info. However, I faced little struggle when I was preparing one page for the first time. Its traditional interface and bloated features makes the simple documentation feel unnecessarily complex and slow. Also, if someone is preparing some confluence page for the first time then proper understanding is required related to features available on the page. - Module Lead1B-10B USDSoftwareReview Source
Interface Design Of Confluence Enhances Daily Workflow And System Integration Efficiency
Atlassian Confluence is a widely used tool to manage tasks, collaborate across teams and integrate various System Lifecycle aspects for development and continuous integration. It is an all-in-one tool with a robust mechanism to link Jira, calendar, and all other team documents. It provides a very consistent task management module with tagging features. It also gets integrated with other native tools on the system. Provides sitewide search. The deployment objective was to resolve a number of business issues pertaining to productivity, ease of use, scalability, and adaptability. The ROI has also been very good. It has helped a lot in scaling across teams. - SALES OPERATIONS ANALYST<50M USDSoftwareReview Source
A Tool That Makes Creating Documentation More Straightforward Than Ever
We currently rely on Conluence as our primary documentation platform company-wide and as the main workspace for exchanging knowledge across different teams and departments. Personally, as a CRM admin, I make great use of Conluence by establishing it as the "go-to-place" for documenting anything related to CRM and sales processes, which comes in handy not only for the smooth onboarding of new joiners but also for providing quick and consistent user support there after. While I can certainly see some room for improvement, I would say it's the best documentation tool I have used so far. - Director Of Products<50M USDSoftwareReview Source
Confluence AI Assistant Is Extremely Powerful But Overall Platform Could Use Some Modern Updates
I've used Confluence at a few different companies over the last decade. It can be a powerful tool, but it requires everyone to buy into it in order to truly realize its value. You really do get back what you put into it.
