Amazon WorkSpaces Core Likes & Dislikes
The ability to use third-party VDI management software instead of having to rebuild from scratch. Practically zero low-level overhead since all underlying infrastructure is taken care of by the product. Flexible pricing, as well as huge optimisation through reserved instances and savings plans make it very financially attractive. It's highly customisable, the options to control images, instance choices, persistence, encryption tooling,... are essential features for us.
The central management of third-party VDI solutions without losing any of them.
1) Seamless integration with other AWS services, making it easier to manage infrastructure. 2) Scalable and flexible virtual desktop provisioning based on business needs 3) Strong security and compliance capabilities aligned with enterprise standards /
Operational complexity is higher than when using turnkey DaaS solutions. Setup, troubleshooting, etc... can take quite a bit of effort when starting out. A large part of your capabilities will depend on the partner layer you use it with. Support for peripherals is basic, for more specialised devices the feature parity across different clients can be uneven. Not ideal for cross-cloud setups.
- Integration of third-party VDI - Compliance - Multi Cloud Support
1) Initial setup and configuration can be complex and time consuming 2) Performance depends heavily on network stability leading to latency issues at times 3) Cost management can be challenging without proper monitoring and optimization 4)Limited customizatiin compared to traditional desktop environments

Performance Remains Stable with Amazon WorkSpaces Core Despite Setup and Management Issues
We started using Amazon WorkSpaces Core as part of our efforts to modernize our VDI environment while keeping more control over the user experience layer. The biggest advantage for us has been how well it integrates with the broader AWS ecosystem. Since most of our infrastructure already runs on AWS, it felt natural to extend our desktop infrastructure there as well. - MANAGER OF IT SERVICES<50M USDReal EstateReview Source
