My overall experience with Oracle CPQ has been extremely good, especially in terms of bringing more structure to our sales process. This has made quote generation more consistent and less dependent on manual effort. Initially, it took some time to get familiar with with how configurations and pricing logic work, But once that was sorted , it became a dependable tool for daily operations.

Like

I like most how it handles complex product combinations without much confusion. It guides users step by step, which makes it easier for sales teams to create accurate quotes. It also ensures that pricing and discount rules are followed properly, which adds a layer of control that we didn't have before. One of the main things I appreciate about Oracle CPQ is how it brings structure and reliability to what used to be a very manual and error prone quoting process.

CRM and ERP integration is good and good capture of bill of materials and other procurement information

Like

A new hire can generate a complex, professional quote on their first day by simply answering prompts about the customer's needs. This significantly reduces the 'ramp-up' time for new talent.

Dislike

While this platform is very powerful, there are areas where it could be more user friendly. The interface in particular feels a bit dated and not always intuitive, especially for new users. It often takes some time and training before someone can use it confidently, which can slow down adoption in the early stages. Another challenge is the level of effort required to make changes. Even relatively small updates to pricing rules or configurations can sometimes require technical knowledge or support from specialized teams.

System can be complex to use, interface can be slow , and design seems non user friendly

Dislike

While Oracle is moving the 'Redwood' design, parts of the platform still feed dated and clunky, requiring more clicks than necessary for a standard sales rep to finish a task.

    Oracle CPQ is a powerful, enterprise-grade solution that brings discipline to the quoting process. My experience has been that it significantly reduces manual errors and ensures price consistency across global teams. While the implementation process is long and requires technical expertise ( specifically in BML scripting ), the return on investment comes from the elimination of 'bad deals' and the speed at which the sales team can generate complex proposals. It integrates very well with major CRMs like Salesforce or Oracle Cx, making the data flow seamless.
