Performance of Google Analytics Across Market Features
Google Analytics Likes & Dislikes
1. Advanced reporting & insights: GA4 offers flexible event-based tracking, custom reports & deep behavioral insights. 2. Seamless integration with Google ads & GTM makes campaign tracking & tag deployment efficient. 3. Strong audience segmentation and conversion tracking capabilities help optimize marketing performance and improve ROI.
It provides extremely detailed data.
The ability to build custom funnels, segment users and analyze feature usage is extremely useful for product analysis and experimentation. I also like standard and real-time reports because they make it easy to monitor core metrics and quickly spot changes after releases or tests.
UI complexities: The interface can feel unintuitive at times, especially when creating custom explorations or advanced reports. Sampling & reporting Limitations: Larger datasets sometimes face sampling or reporting thresholds, which can affect data accuracy in complex analysis. Also, while selecting a large dataset the accuracy is reduced. Historical data retention limits can be restrictive for long-term trend analysis unless you are using the paid version.
It is complicated to use. So much so that an online course is recommended to use it, but unless you use the features regularly, you are still likely to forget how to use them. I have also found that it tries to be too clever, and has taken away the level of control found in previous versions. For example I have found data polluted with our own visits and bot traffic. Even after taking recommended steps to remove this, it didn't give me enough control to remove this, with help articles instead insisting that the system was clever enough to remove this itself.
There is a steep learning curve and the interface and mental model aren't intuitive. Implementing event tracking often requires dev involvement which slows iteration. It can sometimes be very sluggish when loading large data sets.

Google Analytics Provides Insightful Data but Presents a Steep Learning Curve
Overall, Google Analytics has been a reliable daily tool for understanding user behavior and tracking key site metrics. Standard reports make it easy to monitor performance at a high level, while Explorations are powerful for deeper analysis around feature usage, funnels and experiments. It works especially well for validating product changes and identifying trends over time. - MARKETING MANAGER<50M USDMediaReview Source
Transition to Google Analytics Introduces Clearer Data but Steep Learning Curve Noted
Google Analytics is part of our day to day workflow and sits at the centre of how we understand website and campaign performance. Since the move to GA4 it took some time to adjust how we work with the data but now it gives a clearer picture of usewr behaviour across devices and platforms. - DATA ANALYST50M-1B USDSoftwareReview Source
Limitations in Dashboarding and Data Sampling Affect Google Analytics Performance
While Google Analytics is a standard tool used in the industry, it's lagging behind its competitors because it lacks features that they have. Interface is a bit outdated, and the database exports work well, but nothing outstanding. - MANAGER OF IT SERVICES<50M USDReal EstateReview Source
