1. Good integrations make data collection easy and accurate - we use them to pull in data from code repos, AI tools (Github CoPilot, Cursor, Claude Code), and Jira. They have been responsive in adding integrations for new tools, and supporting our existing integrations. 2. Actionable dashboards and delegated access. We can look at individual and team metrics, as well as high-level rollups. We provide access to all levels of management to help track, diagnose, and coach teams using Jellyfish data. They provide views for team performance, investment categories (i.e. Roadmap, Tech Debt, Customer Requests, etc.), DevOps, FinOps, and more. 3. Useful for software capitalization for tax credits. We've given access to our Finance team to track & report on capitalizable software dev expense which helps with tax credits and investment metrics. 4. Active relationship between Jellyfish and my management team. We have regular calls with our account manager at Jellyfish. He helps guide us on best known methods for using their data, has training sessions with our entire engineering management team, guides us through new features, advocates for new features we request, and more.
Ease of use
Integrations: Native integrations with our tooling ecosystem allow us to surface insights without creating additional operational overhead. Operational Metrics: The clarity and structure Jellyfish brings to engineering and delivery metrics has elevated how we manage performance and track progress against strategic initiatives. Customer Support: Their support team is consistently responsive, engaged, and proactive. We've seen a strong commitment to continuous improvement and partnership.
1. Complexity of the product can be ovewhelming. It's a very capable product, but it can be daunting to figure out how to use it effectively, particularly when you're first moving in. 2. When integrations break or behave in an unexpected way, we typically have to involve their support team. I'd like to have more self-service (on a related note, some integrations require Jellyfish's support to add API tokens vs. letting us do it ourselves). 3. Reporting and license management are great for engineering but rough for users who show up on import but are not devs. For example, we have a lot of people in our corporate IT team who use Cursor and other AI tools - they show up in Jellyfish as unassociated licenses that make our views a bit messy - I'd like to have better filtering to clean up our views.

Customization: Some of the configuration options and dashboards require deeper customization to fully reflect the nuances of our operating model. Additionally, interpreting some of the more advanced metrics still requires manual context-setting, meaning the platform isn't always 'self-serve' for less technical stakeholders.
