1. Service utility. The Ontinue MXDR service is a truly useful service. 2. Ease of interaction. All events are delivered to a Teams channel in a succinct, easy-to-read manner with all the relevant information in the chat-like message. 3. Escalation and ownership view. It's easy to see who owns the next action and what is expected. 4. Automation. Ontinue has perfected the art of automating low and medium risk incidents, which form up to 85% of incidents.
I like the portal to view information about incidents/alerts in. I also like that they can provide support with securing the wider environment. Communication is easy and fast both through Teams and weekly calls.
In this order: 1) ease of adoption, 2) technological fit within our Microsoft environment, and 3) the 24x7 service with consistent low response times.
1. Cost. The service is certainly worth more than its dollar or euro cost. As a humanitarian organization, it's a real squeeze to justify it. 2. Coverage for systems that are not covered by the Microsoft SEIM is limited. 3. I have no 3rd issue to report :-)
Slow to respond, can miss out key response elements when responding to incidents.
Kick-off and technical integration materials could be improved. Specially around rollback procedures in case the service becomes discontinued at some point.

The goal of the service in my view is to ensure that the client is not overloaded with security event signals that do not require human intervention. They have automated and optimized response to signals and alerts to provide maximum protection, while ensuring that human intervention is prioritized for events of high sensitivity or that require elevated permissions. Additionally, Ontinue has designed an elaborate onboarding process that delivers client expectations and makes an otherwise complicated process quite simple. Clients must be engaged as a significant part of the onboarding requires in-depth description of the environment and of the roles and responsibilities.
