Overview

Product Information on Power Automate

Updated 13th October 2025

What is Power Automate?

Power Automate is a software that enables users to streamline workflows and automate repetitive tasks across applications and services. The software provides tools for creating automated processes, integrating with various platforms such as cloud-based and on-premises solutions, and connecting data sources. It supports features like triggering actions based on events, managing approvals, and transforming data between systems. Power Automate addresses business challenges related to manual task management and process efficiency by facilitating automation of operations, reducing errors, and improving productivity through seamless connectivity among software solutions.

Power Automate Pricing

Power Automate software uses a subscription-based pricing model, offering various plans based on user needs, including per-user and per-flow options. Pricing is structured according to the number of users or the volume of automated flows, with additional charges for premium connectors and advanced features.

“M365-native automation that accelerates every work-govern early, plan licenses, and scale desktop bots deliberately”

4.0
Sep 10, 2025
Power Automate has become our "everyday automation" layer: it's quick to stand up, deeply integrated with Microsoft 365, and good at moving data across SharePoint, Teams, Outlook and line-of-business APIs. We've saved hours on approvals, notifications, and data hygiene tasks without asking for full-blown development. Trade-offs: Licensing and environmental governance need early planning, and desktop bots still require disciplined machine/runbook management to be reliable at scale. (Environment creation is now locked down in our tenant, which helps control sprawl but adds a request step.)

Power Automate Likes & Dislikes

Like

M365-native integration: Connectors for SharePoint, Teams, Outlook and Dataverse make common automations trivial and keep users in the tools they already use Speed to value for cloud flows: Templates, triggers, and approvals (incl. adaptive cards in Teams) to shrink the cycle time from idea to first run. Low-code pro escape hatches: Makers can start visually, then step up to custom connectors, Graph API, and solution ALM when needed Process insights: Process mining/Advisor is helpful for spotting what to automate next.

Like

connectors and flows security and compliance DIY low code no code easy trouble shooting

Like

1. Both cloud and desktop flows have a large number of actions available that can do almost anything required. 2. There is a wealth of information, tutorials, and documentation. Many other services do not have the same level of answers available if a problem presents itself. 3. Easy integration with Microsoft suite. You can connect your email, teams, and many other Microsoft services very easily, and then use them in process flows. 4. If you have any software development knowledge, it's easy to pick up. 5. Flows can be shared easily. 6. It's not expensive for the potential it gives. 7. Support does exist. I contacted Microsoft support, and they did resolve my issue, although it took a few days for them to respond.

Dislike

Licensing complexity Environment sprawl vs. agility Desktop bot operations

Dislike

No connectors for legacy systems like OAS application we cannot build big apps using it only simpler to medium apps, we often end up in loading issue and performance failure. cost is also a , when increasing the flows it also comes with cost

Dislike

1. Licensing is very confusing to set up. Figuring out exactly what is required to support your business case can be confusing with all the different packages and capabilities. Once set up however, it doesn't change unless your needs do. 2. Very quickly you will need more than one unattended machine (if you are using unattended processes). If a process is running on a machine and another process attempts to use it, Power Automate will throw an error immediately. It would be nice if there was a process queue where it would wait for the first to finish, then run the next process in the queue. 3. Every variable is a global variable. This can make large flows difficult to decipher, especially if you did not write it yourself. 4. Co-pilot AI at this time does not work well. It doesn't implement prompts as expected and most of the time it doesn't make a usable product. Scripting actions do have AI that works well. 5. Compared to other platforms, error handling could be improved. 6. Same with UI automation, UI path does a better job in that area.

Director of IT
Any Automation CoE's that centralized enterprise RPA (ex: UiPath or AA) and low-Code automation (ex: MS Power Automate)  platforms as part of their organizations?  What were the primary drivers for organizing this way?  Benefits?
Program Director, Intelligent Automation + Entrepreneur
I have tried to decentralize RPA, but it's really difficult since to build them you need a software development background, it takes a month of training, and you need to be continuously building to keep one's skillset honed. RDA on the other hand is great to democratize.

Streamlined Document Automation that delivers consistent, reliable results

    4.0
    Nov 16, 2025
My experience has been very positive. The platform has allowed us to streamline what was previously a manual and time consuming workflow. Once the automation was configured, the process became highly reliable and reduced risk of human error. While there is a learning curve during initial setup, the long-term benefits have made the implementation worthwhile.

Power Automate Enables Seamless Business Integration Yet Remains Widely Underutilized

    Oct 6, 2025
Power Automate is a highly underutilized product for the business. Often teams onboard third party applications to deliver some of the same capabilities that Power Automate can deliver out of the box. Particularly for end users where no IT support is required to setup valuable business automation flows.
