The standout feature is Unified Governance and Visibility (AI - SPM): Shadow AI Discovery: It instantly identifies all unauthorized AI tools used by staff and provides clear risk scores for each. Real-time Data filtering: It can automatically block sensitive information (source code, customer data ) from being sent to an LLM before it ever leaves the network. Native Integration: If you already use Palo Alto's ecosystem (Firewalls, Prisma Access), this adds a powerful security layer without changing your team's workflow.
I like that it focuses specifically on AI security - it gives clear visibility into potential risks and vulnerabilities in our AI models, which is something that's hard to track otherwise. I do find that the dashboards and alerts are straightforward, making it easier for the team to stay on top of issues before they become even bigger problems.
The feature I like the most is its focus on AI/ML specific security. The ability to scan models for vulnerabilities, monitor model behavior, and assess third-party dependencies is very important. It is also relatively intuitive and easy to use.
Platform Lock-in & cost: It is an expensive solution that essentially requires you to be all-in on the Palo Alto ecosystem to get the full value. For smaller firms, the licensing complexity is a major barrier. Rigid Configuration: Unlike more agile startups, setting up granular policies can be cumbersome and requires a significant learning curve for administrators. Slower Niche Innovation: As a security giant, Palo Alto can be slower than specialized startups to release protections for the very latest, obscure AI attack vendors that appear overnight.
The biggest challenge is that some features still feel a bit early-stage or limited, so theres a learning curve to understand how to get the most out of the platform. Certain alerts and reports can also require extra tweaking to fit your specific environment, which I find adds a bit of manual work.
The platform feels immature in certain areas, particularly around integrations and customization. Some features require tuning to fit specific workflows, and documentation should be expanded for advanced use cases.

Palo Alto Networks Delivers Centralized AI Security With Broad Visibility and Control
Palo Alto Networks provides an "enterprise command center" for AI security. My overall experience with the platform is that it excels at high-level governance and visibility. It doesn't just protect a sigle model; it monitors the entire organization- from AI apps employees use in their browsers ( Shadow AI) to securing the data flowing in and out of internal models. It is a polished, stable, and highly integrated solution, making it ideal for large companies needing centralized control and compliance ( like the EU AI act ). - Manager, Project Management1B-10B USDSoftwareReview Source
