I had used EBS in my former employment during covid. Oracle EBS is a decent suite with decent capabilities. It is easy to have reporting upon. Oracle also provides a functional set of OCR functionality that works seamlessly with Oracle ERP. This helps the process owner have good control on the complete process and is able to identify churn rate, productivity rate and other qualitative metrics of his operations. In my experience, the organisation was using it for managing consumer orders as well as for procurement. In both of the cases, OCR functionality was being used along with RPA automations. This would allow easy uploading of invoice receipt into EBS. Once these invoices were uploaded using the OCR solution provided by oracle (or manually punched in by a human user), the invoices would be then routed to a bot for coding in EBS to a correct vendor code to ensure that the invoice is in line with the contract. If automation would fail, a human user would code it manually. Upon coding, the invoice will flow into finance, from where it would go for payment processing. And all of these steps would be subject to review by the process owners and auditors. So automation and EBS would work seamlessly. Please note that Oracle releases a security patch every quarter, and a separate EBS update. Both of these are expected to break any RPA automations, hence automated tests if these activities should be planned as a continuous activity to be conducted every quarter.
