SAP Commerce Cloud

Highly customizable, more a framework than a product, brings a lot of capabilities out-of-the-box, but also allows to integrate with 3rd party solutions were deemed necessary.

Good cloud offering with stable operations. Customizable where needed. Community exchanges. SAP trying to be more flexible and more composable.

Quarterly application updates with minor new features, Regular webinars with product information and sometimes introducing new features. Twice per year customer community events with SAP's Product Management for information and experience exchange.

PaaS approach requires certain resources to remain current and issues to the infrastructure might only affect your installation. In a composable architecture, the amount of capabilities used becomes smaller and smaller. Performance optimization often requires high-efforts in order to scale.

SAP Commerce is not fully integrated with SAP internal solutions like S4 and CPQ. Needed storefront migration is way too costly. Best practices sharing is not really there. Something like the well-architected framework that other vendors are having would be nice.

In the last 1-2 years, there is not enough focus on improving core ecommerce functionalities, rather than trying to push the customers to 3rd party addons for better functionality. Its understandable that no product can be expected to master all functionalities, but essential features like Product Catalog and CMS require more attention from SAP.
