Here are a few things I genuinely love about ClickUp: Multiple views: Being able to switch between list, board, and calendar views depending on what I need at the moment is a game-changer. I use it differently depending on the project, and it adapts perfectly. Task dependencies and priorities: I manage several work streams at once, so being able to mark tasks as blocking or dependent on others, and set priority levels, helps me stay on top of what actually needs my attention first. Commenting and tagging directly on tasks: Instead of sending a separate email or message, I can just tag someone on the task itself and keep all the context in one place. It saves so much back and forth. Honestly it's one of the few tools where I feel like it was built for how real people actually work!
It seems to most of the integrations and automations that we need to connect to other services we use so our software doesn't exist in a silo. Everything seems to work together quite well and despite a bit of a learning curve to get our team up to speed with how we wanted to use click up we are now using it as our project management tool and it's been working very well.
What I like most about ClickUp is how everything is centralized in one place. This removes the need to pay for multiple tools and integrations, which cuts costs and simplifies my workflow. I also really like the new AI features with the ClickUp Brain. The AI agents in ClickUp help streamline documentation, assist with editing and support project set-up by automating tasks like creating folders, statuses, tasks and subtasks.
A few things that could use some improvement: It can feel overwhelming at first: The sheer number of features and customization options is great once you know what you're doing, but the learning curve is steep. When I first started using it I spent more time figuring out the platform than actually working in it. Notifications are a lot: If you're tagged on a busy task or part of a large project, the notifications can pile up really fast and become more distracting than helpful. A smarter notification filter would go a long way. It can get slow with large workspaces: When there are a lot of tasks, subtasks and attachments in a space, loading times can lag noticeably. For a productivity tool, that's a little ironic and honestly frustrating when you're in the middle of something urgent. Overall these are things that could be fixed. The core product is solid, but smoothing out these pain points would make the experience so much better!
Main issue that we find is that there's no native way to be able to email task or project lists to our clients on an automated repeatable schedule. They can go out as PDF but that's not as user-friendly as an organic task list in an email would be. Additionally, there are some limitations in the task view of the dashboard which compromises how refined your view is which we had to work around because there was no native solution.
I've noticed recently that the platform can feel a bit glitchy and sometimes clunky, likely due to the addition of new features. While I appreciate the continuous improvements, it can it has been ruining the user experience. The interface can also feel a bit overwhelming at times because of how many features it now has. However, I do acknowledge that a lot of this can be managed through customization.
