Smartsheet

Smartsheet has truly become my go to project management tool. I particularly like the ability to attach documents to the irrelevant Rose and also make notes comments, chat and tag as needed for content directly related to just that Row. However, my favorite feature is definitely the ability to generate a professional looking and simple to use form for public use from a grid sheet that Ive already created. This makes it so simple when people fill out the form and then it comes to me on the back end, and I am able to then organize manipulate and extrapolate the data as needed. Additionally, I find the ability to send recurrent reminders and pings to people using an automated workflow and efficient way to keep people alert and on task and turning and deliverables on time without constantly having to focus on remembering to remind them to turn in things myself.

1. The ease with which we can build project plans, dashboards and metrics. 2. The ability to share the sheets with individuals both inside and outside the company. 3. The ability to create solutions without the assistance of IT.

What I like most about Smartsheet is how adaptable it is to different needs. I can manage tickets, track goals, automate processes, and create dashboards all in one place. It makes it easy to centralize work and keep projects moving without needing multiple tools.

I wish there was a feature similar to apples tips. In other words when there is a new feature, its the first time I have utilized a feature, or theres a feature that people commonly struggle with utilizing, there would be a suggestion or a help box pop-up showing me how to use those things and then after I practice with one step, it would automatically move to a next step. I am the kind of person who learns by doing therefore watching videos or listening to someone else, explain how to utilize the features does not click with me in the same way as doing it myself. Ultimately the inability to create and learn in real time has kept me from utilizing and maximizing Smartsheet to its fullest potential.

1. The company continues to highlight how you can add additional value with the use of other features like blueprints that come at significant costs. 2. The focus of the company on increasing costs has diminished the value of the software within our company. You used to be able to share sheets with other users for free but now they have switched to they need to be paid users. For a non-profit this is a non-starter. 3. There are still a lot of limitations on how we can use the software and with the recent price changes these limitations become reason to move to something else.

The biggest challenge I've had with Smartsheet is some of its limitations with automations and formulas. Some workflows take extra steps because certain triggers or cross-sheet references don't work the way I need them to. It's also frustrating that email notifications don't resend when an automated document is revised, they only go out the first time the document is generated. More flexibility in these areas would make building and maintaining workflows much easier. Also, getting help inside Smartsheet or on the website is complicated. It isn't easy to find what I need and when I do, it's a lot of reading, or I'm forced to watch a video recording of something.
