Performance of Tableau Across Market Features
Tableau Likes & Dislikes
From the stage of data Connections, there are more than 80 data source connectors, along with the basic data source connections like csv, excel files, text files, etc. Configuration of these data sources with their relationships, Union of multiple tables in different ways like wildcards, manual methods. The flexibility of creating multiple calculations using inbuilt functions such as date, mathematical, string functions and more made it easier to showcase my analytical perspective. Tableau's action filters make dashboards more interactive by instantly filtering related views. Story creation in tableau helped me to present insights in a clear, step by step flow by combining multiple sheets. Tableau has introduced new AI features to the calculations window and worksheet level to provide automated insights.
For pixel perfect charts and maps the product is in a league of its own. It can also be easily integrated with 3rd party products through its APIs and then be able to market on the Salesforce website
Stakeholder-friendly dashboard design (I can easily create nice looking dashboards and share them with my stakeholders), integration with multiple datasources (Snowflake, etc.), customization (ability to customize the functionality and tell the story I want to tell through data and data vizualizations), helpful data preparation functionalities (e.g., Tableau Prep)
Conversion from live to extract is very complex and the underlying data and values in the visualizations will change. If we use more action filters then the performance of the dashboard will be degraded The approach to creating the dashboard is very complex. Dealing with containers, formatting the filters and visualizations is very complex.
The biggest problem is being able to manage the sheer content of the landscape once it as been in operation for a few years. There can be vast numbers of dashboards and datasources and its difficult to know what is linked to where. The product has also failed to adapt to Natural Language questions capability
Despite offering multiple opportunities for customization, Tableau might be a bit rigid in particular instances of data storytelling - for instance, it's often very difficult to create correct period-over-period calculations, especially if several different dimensions are required simultaneously (e.g., MoM, QoQ, and YoY change calculations). Another problem is the speed - it usually takes a lot of time for most dashboards to load the data. Additionally, there are some minor UX/UI overlooks, e.g., only a manual choice of OneDrive data sources and no search bar for it

A Powerful Tool for Insightful Decision-Making
As a data analyst, I have used Tableau for multiple projects and POC across different domains. Tableau made it easy for me to move raw data to meaningful insights without spending too much time on heavy technical steps. I am impressed with the list of data source connectors and how simple it is to connect to different data sources. The drag and drop interface feels very natural and simple, even when working on complex dashboards. When it comes to performance, it gave me more flexibility to handle large datasets while still keeping the dashboards responsive. Tableau Offers Strong Security But Faces Interface and Performance Challenges
Using Tableau has been a phenomenal experience for me although there are some hiccups that I would like the developers to straighten out. They are not ground-breaking per se, and they do not hinder you from using Tableau to complete your tasks on a daily basis. For instance, I think that their user interface is kind of outdated and rough; considering our day and age that they can easily utilize modern tools to enhance how it looks and at time when I am using it, I experience quite some lag and it heavily buffers. - Director Of Customer Service And Support1B-10B USDServices (non-Government)Review Source
